The magnificent
Barnes Foundation boasts one of the world’s finest private collections of Impressionist, post-Impressionist, and early modern art.  This tour will feature more than 1,000 works, displayed according to Albert Barnes’s educational philosophy of light, line, color and space. See the gallery collection in the Paul Cret-designed building in Merion, before it moves to Center City Philadelphia in 2011.

Less than an hour’s drive from Philadelphia is America’s premier horticultural center, Longwood Gardens, with 1,050 acres of majestic gardens, natural woodlands and colorful meadows. After the tour, enjoy Longwood’s café and wander through the 20 spectacular outdoor gardens and four acres of indoor heated greenhouses.  On the return trip, visit Winterthur, the former country estate of Henry Francis du Pont (1880–1969), an avid antiques collector and horticulturist. Significant walking; wear comfortable shoes and bring sunscreen. Lunch on own.

From history buffs to a nature lovers and recreational users, the park engages visitors in a multi-faceted experience. Enjoy a tour of key historic features while taking in beautiful views during a scenic bus ride through the park. See the site of the winter encampment of the Continental Army that was a turning point of the American Revolution and a special guided tour General Washington’s Headquarters. During a lunch of colonial fare, participate in discussions and hear the Park’s stories of outreach to both recreational and cultural visitors. Park officials will share insight into the expansion of the park’s offerings including greater accessibility of programs, media, and marketing.
